Juno House Student Accommodation

MKDC, collaborating with HCP Architects, transformed the dated Rendezvous Hotel on Mount Street into Juno House—a vibrant student accommodation facility in Perth’s CBD. Philosophy centered on adaptive reuse and cost efficiency, prioritising retention of existing structures to minimise demolition and environmental impact.

A key focus was compliance: current fire safety and accessibility standards were met through the installation of hydrants in stairwells, upgraded electrical distribution boards, and enhanced air-conditioning systems.

The ground floor was reimagined as a dynamic communal hub featuring a large shared kitchen and dining area, upgraded laundry, games room, wellness studio, parcel lockers, music room, and new toilet facilities. Basement level improvements included a secure bike store to promote student convenience and sustainable transport.

By converting former conference spaces into community and entertainment areas and integrating thoughtfully designed common zones, MKDC created social, leisure, and well‑being spaces that foster a strong sense of community. With infrastructure upgrades and amenity-rich design, Juno House offers a modern, functional, and engaging living environment tailored for students in the heart of Perth.

This transformation underscores MKDC’s commitment to adaptive reuse, code compliance, and community-driven design, delivering a cost-effective yet inspiring student living space.
