The aim of this MercyCare development is to create a residential aged care home which embodies their values — love, hope and courage. The building has been inclusively designed to encourage connection, enable independence and choice, stimulate the senses and promote movement. It’s this approach that nurtures holistic wellbeing for all.
Applying biophilic design philosophies (which focuses on innate human connection to nature), a sense of arrival to the building will be felt via a ‘welcome garden’. This will introduce the key values while acknowledging the indigenous significance of the land. Using dementia design principles across the whole facility, the resident wings in the home are designed on the best practice small-house model.
