MercyCare Retirement Living

MKDC worked with MercyCare to assess the 3-hectare Mercy Village site in Wembley, including 118 dwellings and common-use buildings. After the assessment, we ran a series of co-design workshops to realign the vision and help reposition the retirement village in the senior living market. This ensured the property meets modern retirement living expectations.

As part of the senior living refurbishment program, MKDC designed and delivered apartment and villa upgrades and led styling campaigns across the campus. We focused on the Community Centre, James McAuley Apartment common areas, Harris Apartment common areas, and several villas. These upgrades improved market appeal and created cohesive, inviting living environments.

The styling campaign drew inspiration from nature. MKDC applied natural hues and textures in furniture and added bold accent colours through soft furnishings, artwork, and decorative objects. This approach created a fresh, contemporary look while maintaining a familiar, homely atmosphere for residents and buyers.

To support ongoing refurbishments across the campus, MKDC developed a comprehensive design guidelines package. It aligns with MercyCare’s vision, values, and budget, ensuring a consistent aesthetic across all buildings and shared spaces. As a result, the refurbishment program has successfully increased sales and strengthened the market position of MercyCare Village in the retirement living sector.
