MercyCare Community Village

MercyCare approached MKDC to assist them in market repositioning the Village with a much needed refurbishment to transform it from its 90’s origins, which although built to last, needed a more classic contemporary feel and sophistication relevant to the current and future RV market appeal, in the fashionable Wembley Lake Monger area. An intergenerational focus was also required, to ensure residents could invite family, friends and the broader community. MKDC’s design approach supported this through reinventing space, aesthetic and amenity.

The property transformation program, which included MKDC designing and delivering apartment and villa refurbishments and styling campaigns had a positive change which was most felt as a result of the Community Centre refurbishment.  Located at the heart of the Village, MKDC worked with the residents and MercyCare in a co-design engagement process, resulting in outcomes that look and feel wonderful, and most importantly inclusive to the community that proudly owns them. The overall MKDC design approach was a contemporary classic take on the shared and lobby areas, reminiscent of hotel luxury, with a residential softness.

MKDC created an improved sense of arrival with a more classic contemporary feel applied throughout from the front entry façade upgrades to colour and stylish oversize pot plants, through to the interior upgrades which included lobby, a new library and business centre, gym, activity rooms and a significant activation of the courtyard, previously without purpose. Our final top layer styling and artwork selection added to the narrative of the space, and provide point for discussion and connection between people visiting the centre and residents in the refurbished apartment tower lobby’s.

The revitalisation also appealed to prospective residents, with sales increasing as a result of the refurbishment program. The refurbishment has ensured the Community Centre and Mercy Village as a whole continues to support the village residents as a central hive of activity and social connection.
