Completed in August 2022, Brightwater Inglewood is a new purpose built, 3 storey intergenerational campus which recently won the Master Builders 2023 ‘Excellence in Construction Award’ for Best Aged Care Building between $20-50 Million.
The 128-bed RAC facility over 2 levels focuses on creating homely, residential scale interiors, bringing the outdoors inside by enhancing opportunities for natural light. MKDC have used the site context to inform the colour palettes and narrative which are tastefully woven through two residential aged care floors. These each have 4 houses in line with best practice dementia care principles and the small house model.
The ground floor of the development is home to Brightwaters 150-person Head Office and Community Link. This provides collaborative meeting and training space shared between the RAC and corporate workplace. It also links to their Wellness Hub, featuring a hair salon, Allied Services and Coffee Cart.
Informed by an Australian mid-century aesthetic, homeliness is achieved via timber accents and thoughtfully selected furniture items.
This project is a MK + MJ joint venture with the talented team at MJA Studio. We worked together designing the project from the inside out ensuring the new building design and services incorporated all elements required for a small house model of care.
