Completed in August 2022, Brightwater Inglewood is a purpose-built, three-storey intergenerational campus. It won the Master Builders 2023 Excellence in Construction Award for Best Aged Care Building ($20-50 Million).
The 128-bed residential aged care (RAC) facility spans two levels. The design creates homely, residential-scale interiors and brings the outdoors inside. Natural light fills the building, while the site context guided the colour palette and interior narrative. Each floor has four houses, following best-practice dementia care principles and the small house model of care.
On the ground floor, Brightwater’s 150-person Head Office and Community Link provide collaborative meeting and training spaces for both RAC and corporate staff. Additionally, the Wellness Hub offers a hair salon, allied health services, and coffee cart, enhancing resident and staff wellbeing.
The interior achieves warmth and homeliness through timber accents, curated furniture, and an Australian mid-century aesthetic. These elements create a welcoming environment that supports both residents and staff.
This project is a joint venture between MKDC and MJA. Both teams worked closely to design from the inside out, ensuring the building and services fully support the small house model of care. As a result, Brightwater Inglewood delivers a functional, beautiful, and supportive residential aged care environment.
