MKDC was commissioned to design a modern office fitout for Business News in the heart of Perth’s CBD. Business News recognises that employee wellbeing, collaboration, and productivity are closely linked. This project provided the opportunity to create a brand-new way of working for the respected media company, demonstrating how strategically considered, high-quality interiors can enhance staff engagement, client experience, and team performance.
Level 3 reflects the highly social nature of news collation and media production. The floor includes a large open tea prep area connecting to north and south open workspaces. The design prioritised sightlines and natural light, ensuring a bright and welcoming environment across the entire floorplate. A central bar area functions as a visitor touchdown, informal meeting space, and publication layout bench. Large sliding doors open into a sophisticated boardroom, allowing the space to accommodate larger functions when required.
“We believe the new workplace is a strong declaration of Business News’s commitment to its staff, as well as a place they are proud to share with their clients,” says MKDC Designer Alexis Kusinski.
MKDC collaborated closely with Buildwell Group and Business News to deliver a dynamic and flexible media hub where staff feel intrinsically connected. Additionally, the project integrates elements of activity-based working, collaborative zones, and biophilic design to enhance employee wellbeing and productivity.
