West Leederville Office Refurbishment: Person-Centred Interior Architecture
At the core of the CBSW West Leederville office refurbishment was person-centred workspace design. The Leadership team prioritised people, customer service, and hospitality to ensure the office supports both staff and the wider community. This philosophy guided the redesign, with every individual’s needs carefully considered, fully aligning with MKDC’s approach to creating functional and engaging work environments.
The refurbishment brought together a team previously separated by the base building layout and inefficient storage. By consolidating storage, MKDC maximised usable space and improved interaction, creating a flexible, agile and sustainable workplace. Existing furniture was reused where possible, supporting environmentally responsible practices.
MKDC transformed the West wing into a collaborative Hub with shared spaces to enhance teamwork and client engagement. Movable joinery and sliding walls allow the workspace to adapt easily to changing needs. As a result, staff now enjoy a dynamic, interactive and functional environment.
Timber accents, carefully selected furniture, and human-centred design create a warm and homely atmosphere. The layout balances service, flexibility, hospitality, and individual wellbeing, providing an office where people can thrive. This project shows how thoughtful workspace design can turn existing offices into collaborative, sustainable and people-focused workplaces.
