The MercyCare Southern Hub is a modern flexible workspace designed to support staff across MercyCare’s aged care, early learning, disability, and community services. The hub provides a touchdown and support space for employees in the surrounding region. It creates a collaborative and adaptable workplace that encourages productivity, engagement, and staff wellbeing. By integrating diverse work zones, the hub aligns with contemporary activity-based working (ABW) principles and enhances the staff experience.
The hub offers a variety of workspace types, including focused work zones, collaborative areas, and process spaces. Additionally, a dedicated wellness space, staff hub, and modern training rooms support professional development and on-site engagement. These areas accommodate multiple ways of working, giving teams and individuals flexibility.
Interior finishes take inspiration from the surrounding environment. MKDC incorporated farmland, bushland, and ocean tones over neutral base colours to create a calming, natural workspace. The design also uses sustainable materials and furniture to align with MercyCare’s environmental goals.
The Southern Hub project forms part of MercyCare’s broader workplace strategy. You can read more about MKDC’s activity-based working and agile workplace design on our Insights page. For examples of other healthcare and community sector projects, explore our portfolio.
As a result, the MercyCare Southern Hub delivers a modern, flexible, and sustainable workplace. It supports operational efficiency, encourages social connection, and gives staff a strong sense of belonging. By combining collaborative workspace design, wellness initiatives, and sustainable interior design, the hub sets a benchmark for contemporary workplaces in the healthcare and community sector.
